Wudang Daoist Kung Fu has three general elements in traditional training. These are basics, forms and sparring.
Basics training uses a series of exercises and stances to teach the fundamentals for both fighting and form work. Basics are practiced by all levels of martial artists and include running, jumping, moving stance work and kicks, as well as exercises such as floor sweeps and sanda (fighting drills).
A form is a set order of movements that teaches coordination, agility and stamina. Wudang is a 'long fist' style and has both empty handed and weapons forms. All forms have many levels of understanding and are a sacred part of the practice, having retained the same movements for hundreds of years.
